Dual Enrollment (DE) Courses (Grades 9–12)

TABLE OF CONTENTS

What is Dual Enrollment?

  • Dual Enrollment (DE) offers high school students the opportunity to take college courses at the college or university of their choice while attending Enlightium Academy.
    • This includes trade, technical, and vocational courses offered through a community college.
  • You may also view our website’s Dual Enrollment page.

Qualifications

Registration

  • Students should speak to their Enlightium counselor to determine if Dual Enrollment courses are right for them.
    • Once approved, the student will need to work with both the college advisor and their Enlightium counselor to determine which courses are right for their schedule and goals.
    • It is the responsibility of the student to find a college program, complete all paperwork, and pay any fees required by the college.
  • Transferability of college credits is determined solely by the college to which seniors are applying for admission. Ultimately, credits are awarded by colleges; Enlightium does not award college credits and does not guarantee the transferability of college credits earned.

Cost

  • Students are responsible for paying any tuition and fees required by the college of their choice. Enlightium may charge an offline elective fee if a student’s course load goes over the standard credit allotment.

Earning High School Credit

  • Students are responsible for providing their Enlightium counselor with an unofficial copy of their college/university transcript upon the completion of each term.
  • An official college transcript must be sent to the student’s Enlightium counselor upon the completion of the school year in order for credits to be honored on the high school transcript and count toward graduation.
  • Once the official college transcript is received, those credits will be added to the high school transcript per the Enlightium equivalency form signed at the start of each term.

Earning College Credit

  • At the discretion of the college admissions team, credit hours taken at one college or university may be transferred to another college and applied toward degree requirements.
  • Students are encouraged to meet with the college advisor to discuss college credit transfer options.

Adding or Dropping Courses

  • Students must discuss their desire to drop or add a Dual Enrollment course with their Enlightium counselor before making that decision. The counselor will work with the student to adjust his or her Enlightium class schedule accordingly and complete any necessary paperwork.
  • Students should remember that they are officially enrolled at Enlightium Academy AND the college/university. If the student decides to drop a course, he or she must also complete the college/university’s requirements for dropping the course.

Transcripts

  • Students need to contact their college to request that an official college transcript be sent to their Enlightium counselor.
    • Enlightium does not provide college transcripts; they are issued by the institution where the student is enrolled in dual enrollment courses.
  • Enlightium will honor approved high school credit for Dual Enrollment courses once official college/university transcripts are received.
