PreK3* Bible (AOP)

Overview

Summary
Students learn that God created the world, loves His people, answers prayer, and sent Jesus to save us.
Description

In PreK3 Bible, students will explore God’s story from Creation through the early church. They will learn that God created the world and everything in it and that He loves and cares for His people. Students will hear how sin entered the world through Adam and Eve and how God will continue to show His love by saving Noah, guiding His people, and protecting them.

Children will learn about God’s faithfulness through Moses, including the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, and God’s provision of food and guidance in the wilderness. They will discover that God is strong and mighty, answers prayers, and calls people to listen and obey Him, as shown in the lives of Samuel, David, Esther, and Jonah.

The class will then learn about Jesus—His birth, miracles, kindness, and power. Students will hear how Jesus healed the sick, calmed storms, fed large crowds, and showed love to all. They will learn that Jesus died for sinners, rose from the dead, returned to heaven, and that His followers shared the good news. Memory verses will help reinforce that God is loving, powerful, and always with His people.

PreK3* Language Arts (AOP)

Overview

Summary
Students develop early literacy through letter sounds, tracing, storytelling, sorting, and listening skills.
Description

In PreK3 Language Arts, students build foundational literacy skills through hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities. They learn to recognize uppercase and lowercase letters and their sounds, practice tracing letters and names, and say words that begin with specific letter sounds. Students strengthen fine motor skills by tracing lines, shapes, letters, and simple words using fingers, crayons, and pencils.

Children listen to stories and demonstrate comprehension by retelling events, sequencing pictures, identifying what comes first, and adding details. They practice early writing skills by helping create simple stories, orally telling stories, and sharing ideas about familiar topics such as favorite toys and everyday experiences.

Students also develop vocabulary and thinking skills through identifying opposites, rhyming words, syllables, colors, and animal sounds. Sorting, grouping, matching, and identifying objects that do not belong support early reasoning skills. Directional concepts such as left to right, top and bottom, and positional words are introduced.

Through repeated practice, students gain confidence in recognizing letters, understanding that letters form words, and learning that books are read from left to right, laying a strong foundation for future reading and writing success.

Topics Discussed
  • Recognize uppercase and lowercase letters and letter sounds
  • Trace letters, names, lines, shapes, and simple words
  • Say words that begin with specific letter sounds
  • Practice fine motor and early writing skills
  • Listen to stories and retell key details
  • Sequence events and pictures in correct order
  • Identify rhyming words, syllables, and opposites
  • Match, sort, and group objects and colors
  • Learn directional and positional words
  • Orally create and share simple stories

PreK3* Social Studies (AOP)

Overview

Summary
Students learn about family, safety, manners, seasons, time, and how to be responsible community members.
Description

In PreK3 Social Studies, students learn about themselves, their families, and the world around them. They explore family roles, including those of parents and grandparents, and discuss family routines such as meal times and using good manners. Children practice respectful behavior by learning to say “please” and “thank you,” show kindness when meeting adults, and understand the difference between obedience and disobedience.

Students are introduced to personal and community safety concepts, including memorizing important phone numbers, recognizing 911 as an emergency number, and identifying traffic lights, “Walk” and “Don’t Walk” signs, and common street signs. They learn about safety symbols such as “Poison”, “Flammable”, and “Do Not Enter” signs, and discuss appropriate vehicles used for different jobs.

The class explores time through the use of a calendar and learns to understand the length of three days. Students identify emotions by recognizing happy and sad facial expressions and observing how people are similar and different, such as comparing fingerprints. Seasonal changes are introduced as students learn to identify spring, summer, fall, and winter, along with appropriate clothing for safety and warmth. Children also learn about food sources, what objects are made from, and national symbols such as the flag.

Topics Discussed
  • Learn about family members, roles, and routines
  • Practice good manners and respectful behavior
  • Understand obedience and making good choices
  • Learn personal safety and emergency information
  • Recognize traffic signals and common street signs

PreK3* Math (AOP)

Overview

Summary
Students build early math skills by counting, recognizing numbers and shapes, comparing size, and making patterns.
Description

In PreK3 Math, students develop foundational math skills through hands-on exploration and play-based learning. They practice counting objects from 1 to 10 and matching numerals to the correct number of objects. Students recognize and trace numerals, identify numbers in their environment, and review counting skills to build confidence with early number concepts.

Children learn to recognize and name basic shapes, including circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, ovals, diamonds, and stars. They find shapes in everyday objects and use shapes to create pictures. Students also practice drawing and tracing shapes to strengthen fine motor skills.

Comparison skills are introduced as students explore concepts such as largest and smallest, bigger and smaller, full and empty, lighter and heavier, and longest and shortest. They categorize items by size, shape, and attributes, make groups of objects, and match parts to a whole.

Patterning and sequencing skills are developed through completing and creating patterns such as ABAB, AAB, and AABB using objects like beads. Students also explore early measurement by counting groups, comparing weights, and measuring objects with nonstandard tools and rulers. These activities support problem-solving, reasoning, and early mathematical thinking.

Topics Discussed
  • Count objects from 1 to 10
  • Recognize, trace, and identify numerals
  • Match numerals with groups of objects
  • Identify and draw basic shapes
  • Find shapes in everyday environments
  • Compare size, weight, and length
  • Sort, categorize, and group objects

PreK3* Science (AOP)

Overview

Summary
Students explore science through nature, senses, weather, experiments, and observing the world around them.
Description

In PreK3 Science, students explore the world around them through observation, hands-on experiments, and sensory activities. They participate in nature walks to examine plants, weeds, and natural objects while using their senses to compare textures such as rough and soft. Children identify parts of the body and face and learn how their five senses help them explore and understand their environment.

Students investigate basic science concepts through simple experiments, such as discovering whether objects sink or float, exploring magnetic and non-magnetic items, observing reflections, and watching how sunlight can fade colors. They learn about the difference between living and nonliving things and study animal movement by identifying whether animals walk, swim, or fly.

Weather and seasonal concepts are introduced as students observe daily weather patterns, discuss dressing appropriately for the weather, and explore concepts such as hot and cold, wet and dry. Students also learn about water safety and explore the three states of water—ice, liquid, and steam. Additional topics include the fruit life cycle, volcano experiments, days of the week, and calendar concepts. These activities encourage curiosity, questioning, and early scientific thinking.

Topics Discussed
  • Explore nature through walks and hands-on observation
  • Use the five senses to investigate the environment
  • Identify body parts and understand how senses work
  • Compare textures such as rough and soft
  • Learn about living and nonliving things
  • Explore animal movement and behavior
  • Investigate weather and seasonal changes
