This high school Career and Technical Education elective helps students understand the role of allied health care professionals in the overall health care environment. The online course also provides an overview of the academic preparation required to enter the field, including necessary skills, licenses, credentials, and continuing education options. 


Throughout the semester, students explore the importance of cultural, social, and ethnic diversity in the healthcare workforce, as well as ethical and legal challenges faced by professionals in the field. Other topics of discussion include safety measures, regulatory requirements, confidentiality, and the importance of teamwork in patient care.
