Standardized tests are designed to demonstrate to the parents and students whether the student is performing at grade-appropriate and age-appropriate levels.
Standardized tests also demonstrate grade-level performance in core subjects, helping the school evaluate the effectiveness of its teaching methods.
The results will help Enlightium administration identify and address areas of strength and areas needing improvement to better serve our students.
Standardized test results will not affect students’ grades at Enlightium Academy.
Note: Makeup days are not available if students miss one or more tests.
Does My Student Need to Take a Spring Assessment?
All students in grades PreK-8 have the option to take a Spring assessment through Enlightium; this can be the Iowa Complete or the IXL Spring assessment
Some state regulations require an annual assessment; see the "Regulations by State" section below.
Enlightium offers:
The Iowa Complete annual assessment for students in grades PreK-8 who live in a state that requires or recommends a standardized assessment.
The IXL Spring Assessment is for students in grades PreK-8 who do NOT live in a state that requires or recommends a standardized assessment.
The student is enrolled in the Accelerated Program

The student has a Summer School Extension

The student is in the Intervention Program*
Recommended if living in a state that requires an assessment
Recommended if not living in a state that requires an assessment
The student is using a state voucher or scholarship that requires students to take a nationally norm-referenced assessment

*No assignments will be assigned in Ignitia or Canvas on the testing days. However, students will still have access to courses and can use these days to catch up or work ahead.
