Paying Eligible Expenses Directly from Step Up for Students' Scholarships

Enlightium Academy is an approved part-time tutoring provider for Florida’s Step Up for Students. This organization administers multiple scholarships to K-12 students living in Florida, including the Personalized Education Program (PEP) and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA). Students who have been awarded the PEP or FES-UA scholarships may be able to use those funds to assist with Enlightium tuition and fees.

Students in the Silver+, Gold, or Diamond packages may be able to pay a portion of their tuition and fees directly through Step Up’s Education Market Assistance (EMA) platform. The portion of tuition that covers live support options is eligible for direct payment.

Step Up views live support provided by teachers as “tutoring.” The level of support provided by teachers in Enlightium’s Silver+, Gold, or Diamond packages falls under the category of part-time tutoring.

The portion of tuition that covers teacher support through messaging and basic school services (such as curriculum access and support from staff) is not eligible for direct payment. Instead, these amounts must be paid out of pocket. Parents can request a reimbursement for these amounts, as well as any fees, after they have been paid to Enlightium.

Please refer to the Knowledge Base article “Applying for Florida’s PEP Scholarship” for more information on applying for the PEP scholarship and requesting reimbursements through Step Up for Students. Enlightium cannot guarantee reimbursement approval or timing, but Step Up has said that most reimbursement requests should be reviewed within 60 days of submission. Parents should contact Step Up directly for the most up-to-date information.

If your student is enrolled in the Online Program’s Silver+, Gold, or Diamond packages and you wish to pay some of the tuition through EMA, please follow the steps below:

1. Ensure your student is enrolled full-time at Enlightium Academy.
2. Email billing@enlightiumacademy.comto confirm how much of your student’s tuition covers access to live support. This is the amount that can be paid directly by Step Up.
   1. This can vary between students depending on several factors, including support package, grade level, and applicable discounts.
3. Log in to your EMA account.
4. Click on “Marketplace” and then click on “Find a Provider.”
5. Select your Enlightium student in the dropdown menu. If you have multiple students attending Enlightium, make sure that the correct student is selected.
6. Search for “Enlightium Academy.”
7. Select the “Enlightium Academy” location.
8. Select the “part-time tutoring” service for your student’s support package and grade level.
9. Review the information and click “Reserve Funds.” Then confirm that Step Up can provide your information to us, and click “Confirm.”
   1. Prices are based on the maximum full-year* part-time tutoring cost for each support package or grade level. If the actual part-time tutoring cost for your student is less, an Enlightium representative will adjust the amount to the actual cost.
10. An Enlightium representative will confirm details of the payment and services before submitting the payment for processing.
11. Once the payment is approved by Step Up, Enlightium will adjust any remaining balance on your account accordingly. You will receive a confirmation that Enlightium received approval for the payment, as well as an updated payment plan if applicable.

Please note that a voucher processing fee of up to $150 per student per year applies for payment plans that include payments received through third-party platforms such as EMA. This fee is not eligible for direct payment. The $150 voucher processing fee may be eligible for reimbursement in most cases.

*Diamond students may have the option to pay part-time tutoring costs in two semester payments to better accommodate funding schedules.
