Entrance Assessments (Grades 1-12)
Overview
 | Entrance assessments are required for new/past students grades 1–12 enrolling at Enlightium for English and math courses. Enlightium Academy has partnered with IXL.com to provide students in grades 1–12 with an in-depth diagnostic platform and additional instruction in math and English Language Arts (ELA). This instruction is customized based on the needs of the student. Instructions for how to log in to take the entrance assessments are available on the Ignitia platform in the “Entrance Assessment Instructions” assignment.

Taking the Entrance Assessments
 | Search your inbox for an email from Enlightium with "Entrance Assessment" in the subject for login credentials. Click here for a navigation tutorial. The entrance assessments are designed to assess the student’s academic performance. To ensure Enlightium’s team obtains an accurate measure of the student’s academic capabilities, we ask that parents do not offer assistance or provide tips. The entrance assessment generally takes about four hours to complete, but may take longer. Students typically answer 50-85 questions per subject, though additional questions may be assigned. The student may skip a question if they don’t know the answer by clicking “I haven’t Learned This Yet” in the bottom right of the question. Teachers do not provide assistance to students while the entrance assessments are being taken.

How to Tell When Your Entrance Assessment Is Complete
 | See below for an example of what the Diagnostic Overview Page of a Completed Assessment should look like. To view your Diagnostic Overview Page, click on the “Diagnostic” tab on the green bar at the top of the page. You will know you have completed your entrance assessment when the Diagnostic Overview page meets all of the following criteria: |
| The Math Graph shows six colored bars and six stars. If you are missing any colored bars or if any of the colored bars do not have a star at the end of them, please continue taking the assessment. The Overall Math Level Score shows a solid number. If your Overall Math Level Score shows a range of numbers (450-540, 510-590, etc.), please continue taking the assessment. The Language Arts Graph shows 3-4 colored bars and 3-4 stars. If a student scores below a 200 in Language Arts they may only have three colored bars and three stars on their Language Arts Graph. If a student scores over 200 in Language Arts, they should have four colored bars and four stars. If you don’t have at least three colored bars and three stars on your Language Arts graph, please continue taking the assessment. The Overall Language Arts Level and Overall Reading Level both show a solid number. If either your Overall Language Arts Level Score or Overall Reading Level Score shows a range of numbers (450-540, 510-590, etc.), please continue taking the assessment.

Interpreting Entrance Assessment Scores by Grade level
 | The scale below outlines how to interpret scores for entrance assessments. Please do not worry if your student scores below grade level. Our counselors assign courses primarily based on your student’s school academic records and will contact you if needed. After completing the entrance assessment, students are given an overall score in Math and ELA that represents their current grade level; see the chart below for details. Please remember that the purpose of the entrance assessments is to help the counselors determine the academic level of the student in English and math.
