Student Council (Grades 6-12)

What is the Student Council?

  • Enlightium Academy's Student Council provides students with the opportunity to build and strengthen communication and leadership skills in a safe and supportive environment.
  • The mission of the Enlightium Academy Student Council is to provide an atmosphere of unity within the student body, causing a more enriched online school experience while building responsible leaders within our school community and promoting the values that represent godly character in all students. We will accomplish our mission through engaging students through contests and by being respectful, responsible, and safe.
  • Running for Student Council is no longer associated with Student Social Week.

Requirements to run for Student Council

To run for student council, the student must be
  • Currently enrolled full-time at Enlightium Academy
  • In grades 6-12
  • Have no major behavioral instances on file
  • Have no major progress issues, such as low progress probation

To run for the open Student Council positions, a student must

  • Apply to be approved to run
  • Once approved:
    • Submit a campaign video
    • Submit a campaign poster
    • Submit a short bio
    • Submit a professional-looking headshot

Student Council Meeting Dates

The student council will meet one Tuesday a month from 9:00 - 10:00 am PT:

  • November 15, 2022 
  • December 13, 2022 
  • January 10, 2023 
  • February 14, 2023 
  • March 14, 2023 
  • April 11, 2023 
  • May 2, 2023

Student Council Positions

President (One-year term)

Any current 11th - 12th grade student is eligible to be elected as the Student Council President.
  • Preside at all meetings of the Student Council 
  • Sign all letters, reports, and other communications of the Student Council. 
  • Perform all duties corresponding to the office of President. 
  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council. 
  • Aid in the nomination of the next president

Vice President (One-year term)

Any current 10 - 12th-grade student is eligible to be elected as the Student Council Vice President.
  • Represent the President in assigned duties.
  • Substitute for the President in his/her absence.
  • Aid in announcements to the student body.
  • Aid in the monitoring of events created by the Student Council.

Secretary (Two-year term)

Any current 9th - 12th grade student is eligible to be elected as the Student Council Secretary.
  • Keep minutes of all regular and special meetings of the council.
  • Transmit true and correct copies of the minutes of such meetings to members of the Student Council for approval.
  • Maintain custody of records of the Student Council.
  • Aid with a register of the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of each member of the Student Council, the chairpersons of the school advisory committees, and others with whom the Student Council has regular dealings, as furnished by those persons.
  • Perform other such duties as are assigned by the chairperson or the Student Council.

12th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 12th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.
  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order
  • Report class opinions and input to the Student Council.
  • Be a liaison between the Student Council and class.
  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council.

11th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 11th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.
  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order.
  • Report class opinions and input to the Student Council.
  • Be a liaison between the Student Council and class.
  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council.

10th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 10th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.
  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order.
  • Report class opinions and input to the Student Council.
  • Be a liaison between the Student Council and class.
  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council.

9th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 9th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.
  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order.
  • Report class opinions and input to the Student Council.
  • Be a liaison between the Student Council and class.

8th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 8th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.

7th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 7th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.

  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council.

6th Grade Class Representatives (One-year term)

Any current 6th grade student is eligible to be elected as a Student Council Class Representative.

  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order.
  • Report class opinions and input to the Student Council.
  • Be a liaison between the Student Council and class.
  • Have other such duties as are prescribed by the Student Council.
