ELL (English Language Learners) Program (Grades 8–12)
Overview

| - Enlightium Academy’s English Language Learners (ELL) Program supports students whose first language is not English. The program provides modified coursework, targeted language-learning practice, and instruction from an ELL-certified teacher.
- Students receive help building study strategies, writing skills, and vocabulary, and may seek assistance with writing assignments from other courses.
|
Who Can Benefit?

| - The ELL course is designed for intermediate, advanced, and proficient English learners. It does not replace a beginning language course and does not provide enough instruction for beginning or advanced-beginning English learners.
- The program is available for students in grades 8–12.
|
How to Participate

| - Participation in the ELL course is voluntary. Families may request it by indicating the student’s language level on the enrollment form. Students or counselors may also request the course after the school year begins, and teachers may recommend it when helpful.
- The ELL course combines standard English curriculum with targeted lessons in the following areas:
- Reading
- Writing
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
- Study strategies
- The composition process
- The number of lessons in an ELL English course does not exceed the number in a standard English course.
